The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking an Avionics Design Engineer (Level 2/3/4) with Avionics hardware experience to join the Weapons team located in Saint Charles, MO. The team is seeking a motivated individual to design, develop, and test avionics equipment for weapons such as the Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM), Small Diameter Bomb (SDB), Standoff Land Attack Missile - Expanded Response (SLAM ER), and Harpoon.

Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Development, integration and test of weapons system avionics such as mission computers, tail actuation systems, sensors, antennas and carriage & launch electronic systems
  • Work with customers to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements in accordance with customer needs and contract requirements
  • Analyze and translate requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs, interface specifications and technical performance specifications
  • Test and validate to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements
  • Monitor supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements
  • Resolve product integration issues and production anomalies
  • Support fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle
  • Investigate emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements
  • Make recommendations for technology investments
  • Support Electro-optic / Infrared system performance and qualification testing
  • Requirements generation, development and verification testing of general weapons RF subsystems and Antennas
  • Electrical drawing requirements & design, Supplier management, System Segment Description Documents, Software Testing & Test Procedures, Factory Acceptance Testing, Tech manual support


    This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

    This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
    • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
    • 1+ years' of experience in avionics systems development, integration and test.
    • 1+ years' of experience working development programs


      Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
      • +3 years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
      • +5 years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience


        Typical Education/Experience:

        Associate (Level 2)

        Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

        Mid-Level (Level 3)

        Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

        Senior (Level 4)

        Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

        Relocation:

        This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

        Summary pay range: 66,000 - 118,000

        Summary pay range: 80,000 - 142,000
