JOB SUMMARY: The RN First Assistant will provide intra-operative assistance to the surgeons during surgical procedures, including draping, suturing, clamping, and exposure of the surgical field. The RNFA will be responsible for performing surgical procedures on patients of different age groups and surgical modalities up to the scope of practice, including robotics. This is a full-time position with an 8-hour day work schedule and a sign-on bonus of $15,000.

• RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Record and document patient information in the electronic or paper medical record.
• Take medical history from the patient using appropriate interview techniques.
• Deliver patient care and treatment using problem-solving and critical thinking.
• Administer medication safely and accurately, and utilize resources when needed.
• Evaluate outcomes of care and chart forms fully and legibly.
• Provide constructive feedback and use chain-of-command for problem-solving and conflict resolution.
• Complete care assignments with reasonable speed.
• Follow hospital standards related to the Kronos system.
• Attend courses, in-services, and maintain knowledge of current policies.
• Serve as a preceptor for new employees, students, and evaluate their performance.
• Maintain communication with the patient's family/significant others.
• May need to be on call. QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Graduate of an accredited program of professional nursing.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Florida.
  • Minimum of two years in perioperative nursing.
  • Successfully completed a Registered Nurse First Assistant course approved by a Florida Board of Nursing provider.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Intermediate computer knowledge.
