Job Description:

The Linux Systems Engineer role is responsible for providing mid to high level support on a Linux based infrastructure/application, and network monitoring and diagnostics support. This role will require occasional after hours, non-standard schedules, and evening/night/weekend shifts to support 24/7 operations. Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities Planning, designing, testing, and implementation of new solutions and services. Review and recommend improvements to the existing infrastructure and technologies where applicable. Installation, configuration, testing, maintenance and upgrading of operating systems, applications software, hardware, storage, virtualization platforms, and system management tools. Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for advising and consulting of new or upgrades of IT infrastructure. Interpret security scans and audits to make required adjustments to remediate deficiencies or propose compensating controls. Work with IS security team to secure infrastructure systems, including OS and application patching, logging, and monitoring. Managing and monitoring of IT infrastructure and applications. Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impacts of issues. Perform backup recovery operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures. Lead support efforts, making sure all applications, servers, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions to the business. Will be a Subject Matter Experts on all company software and hardware providing documentation for lower tier administrators and technicians to resolve issues in a timely manner. Work with vendors and other IT personnel on problem resolution. Provide tier 3 resolutions for complex issues; maintain an occasional on-call status after work hours. What You'll Need 3-5 years demonstrated skills in a high-tech environment, emphasizing skills in infrastructure management Experience with RedHat Satellite Experience with IPA/IDM Experienced knowledge in Linux/Unix operating systems and command line Fundamental knowledge of SAN and NAS storage devices.
