Surgical Tech Location: Springfield, IL Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,086 per week Shift Information: 5 days x 16 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 2/2/2026 About the Position Job Title: OR Tech / Surgical Tech Profession: Surgical Services Specialty: OR Tech / Surgical Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 5x8 (12:45 - 21:15) Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience required License: Not required for this role Certifications: BLS required CST preferred Must-Have: Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to apply Weekend coverage required: once a month with a total of 16 hours of obligation On-call requirement as needed for department Description: Position/Specialty: OR Tech Average Daily Census: 50-60 cases per day First-timers not accepted Must be familiar with the following case skills/experience: Ear, Nose, Throat (ENT): Direct laryngoscopy, radial neck dissection, tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy, tracheostomy Endoscopic Procedures: Colonoscopy, EGD, Peg tube placement/exchange General Surgery: Appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection (open/LAP), hernia repair (inguinal/umbilical), laparoscopic-assisted procedures, mastectomy, thyroidectomy (partial/total) Gynecology: Abdominal hysterectomy, anterior/posterior repair, bilateral tubal ligation, dilation & curettage, laparoscopic-assisted gynecological procedures, vaginal hysterectomy Neurosurgery: Craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, lumbar fusion Oral Surgery: Repair of fractured jaws (mandibular and zygomatic) Orthopedic Surgery: Arthroscopy, arthrotomy, carpal tunnel release, closed/open reduction of fractures, laminectomy/discectomy Plastic Surgery: Free flap - microvascular Trauma: Amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, multiple injuries from MVA Urology: Cystoscopy, laparoscopic-assisted cases, nephrectomy, ureteroscopy Required Emergency management Skills/Experience: Fire safety Professional Knowledge and Skills: Aseptic technique, isolation precautions, radiation safety, sharps safety, specimen handling/labeling, universal protocol (time-out) procedure Preferred: Teaching hospital experience Required: Trauma Level I experience Hospital Type: Acute care hospital, Magnet facility, Level I trauma center Total Staffed Beds: 562 beds Charting: Cerner Patient Age Groups: Adolescents, adults, pediatrics, geriatrics Daily Census: 50-60 cases per day Patient Diagnoses: Covers everything except eyes and cardiothoracic Interdisciplinary Support: IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, unit secretary Special Procedures/Unit Details: Required equipment: Xi Robot, Mazor Robot, Rosa Robot, multiple microscopes Floating will be required within scope of practice Candidates must be able to secure housing and complete all compliance needs timely. Attendance and behavior issues during the contract period will not be tolerated. Candidates must work two out of three major holidays. Candidates should ensure fluency in all required skills before applying. Experience required is specific to the position described. Background policies will be enforced prior to approval for submission. All potential hires must complete various compliance and documentation requirements before starting.
