Overview We are excited to announce an opening for an academic
neonatologist faculty role, focusing on delivering specialized
clinical services in Level II and IV NICUs. This position includes
involvement in fellowship training, quality enhancement
initiatives, and research within a pediatric healthcare
environment. The successful candidate will work alongside
multidisciplinary teams, take on teaching duties, and provide
on-call clinical support, with chances to engage in high-risk
neonatal and fetal care programs. Applicants must be board
certified or eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine and possess or
be eligible for a medical license in Missouri. We are looking for
dedicated academic neonatologists to join our thriving academic
group at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. We particularly
welcome candidates with expertise and interest in Neonatal
Neurology, Simulation, and Quality Improvement. The Division of
Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine comprises 21 faculty members and
research personnel. Our division operates a busy inpatient service
within the 65-bed Level IV NICU at our pediatric hospital, which is
a 190-licensed-bed, independent facility affiliated with a
prominent medical school. Additionally, the division supports the
labor and delivery services at a nearby hospital, which includes a
42-bed Level III NICU. Faculty members also oversee four Level II
NICUs in the community and provide consultation services at the
Fetal Care Institute, as well as staffing a high-risk developmental
follow-up clinic. Our division features a fellowship program that
recruits two fellows annually. We engage in both intra- and
extra-mural funded clinical and basic science research and maintain
a strong collaborative relationship with the School of Public
Health. There are excellent teaching opportunities available for
medical students and post-graduate trainees in both didactic and
clinical settings. Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and
Personal Attributes: Strong communication and interpersonal skills
to effectively coordinate patient care in a high-volume Level IV
and Level II NICU alongside sub-specialists. Capability to lead a
medical team and collaborate with ancillary services within the
NICU. Proficiency in teaching and mentoring trainees and advanced
practice providers. Detail-oriented and organized, with exceptional
time management abilities. Key Responsibilities: Deliver clinical
neonatology services at designated NICUs and community SCNs as
directed by the Division Director. Provide antenatal consultation
and neonatal resuscitation services on Labor and Delivery as
requested by OB/MFM at each facility. Fulfill in-house call
responsibilities at both the NICU and Level III NICU and L&D at
the affiliated hospital according to the divisional schedule. Offer
on-call support from home for community NICUs as per the Division's
schedule. Engage in Fetal Care consultations and participate in the
high-risk nursery follow-up clinic. Ensure timely and accurate
documentation of all services rendered on behalf of the Division.
Participate in educational conferences for trainees, staff, and
community providers as necessary. Contribute to M&M conferences
and present clinical cases as assigned during clinical service
time. Engage in Quality Improvement initiatives as required in
collaboration with the Division Director. Maintain all board
licensing and credentialing requirements to uphold privileges at
each participating hospital. Collaborate closely with faculty
mentors and the Division Director on the academic portfolio.
Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must be board certified or board
eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. Candidates must be
eligible for a medical license in Missouri. Located in St. Louis,
